We need to stop comparing ourselves to others, it can honestly change how you feel about everything… it doesn’t matter what others are doing, how they are doing it or why. It matters what your doing, whether your doing something you enjoy with people you care about. And if ur not start making changes to your life until you feel those things… it’s never too late and it sure as hell doesn’t matter what other people think. It’s so easy to say this stuff; I think about it all the time because I’ve always struggled with depression, and I try to focus on ways to train my mind to see things differently. A quote that has always helped me is by the amazing director Baz Lurhmann – “Sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind. MV ASKS: WHO IS YOUR MOTHER AGENCY?
MV ASKS: WHEN ARE WHERE DID YOU FIRST GET SCOUTED?
Before I got scouted as a model, I was actually already signed with IMG talent as an actress! When I was in LA on Holiday I was scouted by a couple agencies and brands to work there but I didn’t have a visa so when I came home I went into IMG and they said I should join as a model too!
MV ASKS: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN ACTING FOR?
When I was 19 I decided I wanted to go to the Strasberg drama school in New York. It was the first time I’d ever really tried it, my mum was an actress so I always knew a lot about it but I was shy as a kid which made acting very hard and why I did it so late.
MV ASKS: HOW DO YOU BALANCE BOTH CAREERS?
For me, my main passion has always been acting, so I guess that always comes first. But since both careers really compliment each other, this helps me balance my schedule.
Since I’m sometimes shy in front of the camera, I use some of the tips I’ve learned on stage to help me boost my confidence. For example, during a photoshoot I may create a strong, empowering character in my mind and channel this energy in my poses, this helps me feel super confident and relaxed.
MV ASKS: WHAT TIPS WOULD YOU SUGGEST FOR OTHER MODELS WHO STRUGGLE MANAGING MODELLING AND OTHER WORK?
Decide what is most important to you, and make sure it is your main priority, so for me, it’s acting. I once had to turn down an Adidas campaign for a huge audition which was definitely a hard decision to make!
MV ASKS: WHO ARE YOUR FAVOURITE FASHION DESIGNERS?
Gucci has always been one of my favourite iconic fashion brands, their shoes especially I think are beautiful! Reformation has some iconic tops which I love, literally, I probably wear them every day! I am also absolutely obsessed with the tracksuits from I am Gia, they are so comfortable yet chic, they are great for my off-duty style.
MV ASKS: WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 3 SKINCARE PRODUCTS?
- I’ve learned lots of helpful advice from makeup artists through modelling regarding how to use various creams, different makeup tips and where to find the best products. For example, I recently discovered La Mer‘s products at their event with Conde Nast thanks to Model Village! Their Creme de la mer facial creme is so nourishing for my skin, I use it every day and I’ve almost used up my pot!
- I love natural products, I try to stay away from anything with parabens or sulphates. I would also definitely recommend Palmer’s Cocoa Butter gradual tan body creme. It is such a moisturising lotion with pure Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E, so it is the perfect way to keep my skin healthy and glowing even when it’s not so sunny in London!
- Biosource Cleansing Micellar Water is also a must-have, it is a 3-in-1 cleansing water which purifies, tones and instantly removes my eye makeup which is ideal for modelling!
MV ASKS: YOU RECENTLY CUT YOUR HAIR FOR CHARITY, WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO MAKE THIS DECISION?
I knew I wanted to cut my hair pretty short, so I thought what better way than to donate my hair to a charity so it could then be used to make a wig for someone else who really needs it! I decided to donate it to Little Princess Trust who specialise in providing real hair wigs for children suffering from hair loss due to cancer treatment and other illnesses. It was a great decision that I am so proud of and would highly recommend!
MV ASKS: WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE EXPERIENCE WITH MODEL VILLAGE TO DATE?
I loved being apart of Get Fired Up for #LFW AW/18! It was great to join in on the exercises classes and the relaxing yoga mediation during Fashion Week, which is normally such a hectic time for any model anyway! It was also such a fun experience to meet lots of new people and get to know other models in the industry also!
