A BIT ABOUT LAURA
HOW OLD ARE YOU?
WHERE IS YOUR HOMETOWN?
WHO IS YOUR MOTHER AGENCY?
MV ASKS: WHEN DID YOU FIRST GET SCOUTED?
I started modelling 6 years ago, in Paris and first got scouted by my mother agency MP.
MV ASKS: WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE JOB TO DATE?
Hmm, this is actually such a hard question to answer! Maybe my first real campaign when I was 16, for Garnier. I was not very experienced and just started modelling so it was such an amazing experience as a first job!
MV ASKS: WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT THE INDUSTRY, AND WHAT WOULD BE ONE THING YOU WISH YOU COULD CHANGE?
I love that the industry offers you the chance to be free and work all over the world. It offers you amazing opportunities to travel and discover new cultures, cuisine, people and places.
I also love to work with inspiring and creative people and the fact that every shoot involves this teamwork is amazing, as together you can help create something totally amazing and unique!
I guess one thing I would like to change about the industry is how sometimes some people forget that models are humans first, and we all have personal lives and issues that need to come first and I think sometimes this can be forgotten in such an intense and particular industry.
MV ASKS: HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO BALANCE BOTH MODELLING AND SCHOOL LIFE AS A STUDENT?
So I currently study journalism and communication but when I first started modelling I was still in high school. I learnt to deal with both very early on, otherwise, my parents would not have really allowed me to continue my modelling career.
I have been modelling and studying for about 4 years now and so over time, I have definitely managed to balance both easier. I think it’s very important to tell your school about your working situation so they can be aware of your absence and help you manage your workload. However, at the end of the day, I am very serious about my school work and so I would always prioritise my classes over any modelling work.
I am so excited however to finally finish my studies this summer in June!
I am now thinking about what I would like to start beside modelling also, as I have always loved doing various activities outside of modelling and would not do that full time. It’s just about being good at organisational skills at the end of the day!
MV ASKS: YOU’VE DONE A LOT OF WORK WITH BEAUTY AND HAIR BRANDS, WHAT IS YOUR BEAUTY SECRET?
We often believe that beauty is mostly about the products we use, but I think that what you eat, how you sleep, and your lifestyle has more of an impact. So I pay a lot of attention to those three things, and I don’t like to wear makeup every day at all so my skin can rest and keep clean and hydrated naturally.
MV ASKS: WHO INSPIRES YOU IN LIFE AND WHY?
I am mainly inspired by women who defend causes that I support too and I think that in today’s world it’s so important we use our voices for good and help those who don’t.
I love and admire Nina Dobrev who is best-known for her role on The CW television teen drama The Vampire Diaries. She is very committed to environmental and animal protection which I would love to become more involved in personally. She is also a part of many associations such as Oceana, which aims to protect the oceans and is the largest international ocean conservation and advocacy organisation.
MV ASKS: WHY DO YOU THINK INSTAGRAM AND SOCIAL MEDIA IS IMPORTANT FOR MODELS?
I think Instagram is an important platform for models to utilise and is an interesting way for models to share a part of their daily lives and to make real connections with their audience so your followers can see the true side of the industry.
Instagram is such a powerful tool to help you present your identity and show who you are and what you believe in.
But you have to be careful with social media because it can be a trap sometimes. Most of the time, It only shows the great side of everything and people’s lives. Which is not the reality and can even tear some people down. For me, it’s important to try to keep what you share « real » somehow and just to not show off!
MV ASKS: HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE YOUR SENSE OF STYLE? WHICH DESIGNERS OR BRANDS CURRENTLY INSPIRE YOUR OFF-DUTY WARDROBE?
I can be very casual/chic sometimes and also very tomboyish some other times!
I love to mix different looks and outfits, depending on my style, my location, the weather and how I am feeling. I also pay so much more attention than before starting modelling to clothing production, and the conditions of manufacturers so I know I am supporting a brand who looks after their workers and are eco-friendly. So I generally try to avoid big companies where manufacturing conditions are often deplorable.
Now that my studies are about to end, I would like to start an activity that I really love in parallel to modelling, but I am still hesitating between several things… we’ll see but I’m very excited!
MV ASKS: WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE CAMPAIGN WITH MODEL VILLAGE AND WHAT ARE YOUR TOP INSTAGRAM TIPS?
Also, I would say do not edit too much, keep your content natural and real!
MV ASKS: WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT MODEL VILLAGE?
Model Village gives you an amazing chance to discover new brands which I love!
For example, I really loved my partnership with La Mer, their products are simply amazing and I was so happy to promote something I do really use and believe in the efficiency.
The Model Village app is also very easy to use and its networks are truly interesting and is great for models. Also, it makes you discover new places nice to hang out.
