Have you heard about the designers who will be showcasing their latest collections this season at London Fashion Week SS19?
For the Spring Summer 2019 shows, Victoria Beckham, Riccardo Tisci, Alexa Chung and Jenny Packham will be joining the British fashion scene, celebrating various anniversaries and showcasing their unique designs, bespoke for this season in the fashion capital.
Find out which 5 designers we think are the one to watch for this season during LFW SS19…
1. RICCARDO TISCI BRINGS VIVIENNE WESTWOOD TO BURBERRY FOR THE FIRST TIME
We have some great expectations for the Burberry show this season, as it will mark the debut of Riccardo Tisci. His appointment was made official on March 12, 2018, and, after only five months, the designer from Taranto, Italy has partnered with British Designer, Vivienne Westwood and redesigned the logo of the iconic fashion house.
In an age when collaborations are a dime a dozen, this one might be one of the most unexpected and exciting shows to watch, as Tisci describes his excitement and passion for the event…
“Vivienne Westwood was one of the first designers who made me dream to become a designer myself, and when I first started at Burberry, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to approach her to do something. »
On Instagram, Tisci then continued to praise Westwood’s influence, calling her the “most unique champion of British style.”
Burberry’s Westwood collaboration will arrive in stores in December 2018, three months after Tisci makes his Burberry debut at London Fashion Week.
2. VICTORIA BECKHAM WILL JOIN LFW FOR A 10TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW SPECIAL, CELEBRATING A DECADE IN FASHION
The catwalk event will follow a series of changes to Beckham’s eponymous brand, bringing her annual show over from New York Fashion Week.
Beckham will host her Spring Summer 2019 show in London on the morning of Sept. 16 and mark the 10-year anniversary of her business. She has even confirmed that more events, exclusive pieces and other activations will take place throughout the year to celebrate the brand’s decade.
The show will allow Victoria Beckham Limited, as the global luxury fashion brand is officially registered, to enhance its UK presence, drive core investment and launch new categories and collaborations, according to an official statement from which VBL announced ahead of the season.
3. ALEXA CHUNG JOINS LFW FOR THE FIRST TIME
Alexa Chung will make her debut on the official show schedule at London Fashion Week in September for the first time this season.
Launched in May 2017, the Alexa Chung brand aesthetic draws on the model, muse and journalist’s own idiosyncratic sense of style. The brand also takes inspiration from musical muses including Jane Birkin, Brian Jones, David Hockney and David Bowie.
“Music has had a huge influence on my work as have my friends »
Alexa Chung will present her Spring/ Summer 2019 collection on the second day of fashion week, at 11 am on Sunday 15th September.
4. JENNY PACKHAM RETURNS TO LONDON FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 8 YEARS
Jenny Packham, who has been showing on the New York Fashion Week calendar for the past eight years, plans to return to London in September with an on-schedule show to mark her 30 years in business.
Packham is actually a British and her label is based in London, although she has been showing in New York for the past 16 seasons. Launched in 1988, the label is known for its bridal gowns and eveningwear collections.
The Spring Summer 2019 show will be one of a series of events to mark the anniversary and we can’t wait to see what the luxury designer has planned.
“London, for me, is the most creative and inspirational city in the world and our home, we are looking forward to presenting a collection that reflects this energy and propels the brand into its next decade.”
5. A NEW MOVEMENT OF PASSIONATE SELF-EXPRESSION WITH FYODOR GOLAN
Fyodor Golan’s approach is to design represents Positive Intellectualism; a movement of passionate self-expression, which is instantly recognizable through the use of vivid colours merged with elevated sportswear aesthetics.
Last season, Golan bought the vivid colours and the-leisurewear for which they are known for an elevated collection at their autumn/winter 2018 show.
Each season the duo has presented a completely different show from their last. From techno looks too flamboyant rainbow jumpsuits, the pair’s designs have a futuristic feel.
So this season one thing is for sure, Golan’s show will be completely unpredictable and in any case, a rainbow performance of colour and texture.
