Are you currently searching for an eco-friendly alternative for your athletic wear? Carrot Banana Peach could be your next solution, as the pioneers of organic and ethical clothing, they tell us the ethos behind the brand and how you can instantly discover a new experience when wearing sustainable athletic wear.
MV ASKS: TELL US THE STORY BEHIND CBP, HOW HAS YOUR BRAND’S JOURNEY EVOLVED?
Carrot Banana Peach is an organic plant-based clothing brand, created almost twenty years ago and was originally inspired during a trip to the rainforests of Malaysia.
In 1999, designer Nigel Thomas Gartside left Nike International and teamed up with other members of his family and friends to combine product and design with textile expertise. Representing a new generation of brothers and cousins, holding new values and visions that capitalised on past strengths, modern innovation and a love for all things natural.
Inspired around a family of athletes from a World Record Holder in athletics, to amateur football, tennis and rugby players, the company’s priority was naturally bound to activewear. Recovering in Hong Kong from a rugby injury in 2000 through yoga, Nigel was inspired to create a yoga-focused collection, initially made from organic cotton. The company, over the years, has since expanded its plant-based products to include bamboo yoga clothing, Banana fitness clothes, Soybean yoga retreat wear and the more recent launch of it’s Aloe Vera clothing and accessories. Recognising the unique touch and feel, performance and comfort of its breathable clothing the brand launched its first concept store in 2017 in North West England, where it all began in 1870.

MV ASKS: WHY DO YOU VALUE THE IMPORTANCE OF ORGANIC, PLANT-BASED CLOTHING & WHY WOULD YOU ADVISE MORE COMPANIES ALSO MAKE THIS CONSCIENTIOUS CHANGE TO THEIR PRODUCTION?
Plant-based clothing is revolutionising the activewear industry because of its inherent organic properties in two ways – Firstly as a fabric it is hypoallergenic, super breathable and comfortable to wear, providing necessary structure and support – so its the perfect choice for any fitness-minded consumer.
Secondly from a sustainability perspective, for example, Bamboo is 100% bio-degradable, can be grown without pesticides and harvested sustainably. It is capable of complete regeneration and requires little maintenance. Production change is inevitable not least because moving from synthetic and toxic materials like polyester to natural ones, has to be the future.
MV ASKS: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU SHARE WITH FASHION MODELS WHO ARE SEARCHING FOR ATHLETIC CLOTHING?
You don’t need to sacrifice style with comfort and support. Plant-based clothing provides all of these benefits and is now beautifully designed to look super stylish as well as being great for the skin because of its hypoallergenic qualities.
It’s always good to check the labels on athletic clothing to appreciate what you could be wearing. Large composition percentages of synthetics can be avoided by choosing plant-based brands.
By choosing organic plant-based clothing you are making a choice. A healthy choice to wear natural fibres and reduce the toxicity in what you wear.
You can literally feel the difference. You are also making a choice to include sustainability into your world.
MV ASKS: SUSTAINABLE FASHION IS A GROWING DESIGN PHILOSOPHY, WHY DO YOU THINK ECO-FASHION IS IMPORTANT IN SOCIETY TODAY?
Bringing together both the environment, the health of the consumer and the conditions of the workers who are actually involved in the process, has been long overdue.
Eco-fashion brings this much-needed conversation to the forefront to drive change
