Amongst the midst of LFW a fresh new season of fresh new faces look forward to launching their careers. However, whilst we usually look forward to the future of fashion, today’s post is a retrospective, focused on the first ever shows supermodels such as Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Karlie Kloss, and Kendall Jenner ever walked for. These stunning supermodels are the ultimate role models for any model wanting to break into the industry.

Gisele Bündchen

Gisele Bündchen is a Brazilian supermodel and was first spotted at the Alexander McQueen SS 1998 presentation in 1997. Today she is known as one of the most successful supermodels of all time. In 2014, she made $128,000 a day and was named as a high income model by Forbes, detailing her incredible networth. She has worked with brands like Chanel and H&M (to name a few). However now, she seems to be focusing on her main role as the mum for the Brady bunch.

I feel like when people judge me they’re not judging me, because they don’t know who I am.

- Gisele Bündchen

Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell is an English model and first debuted her catwalk career at the Yves Saint Laurent Spring/ Summer 1988 presentation in 1987. Her decade long career has secured her spot as one of the few supermodels who still makes appearances fairly frequently. Born in London she has graced the covers of multiple magazines such as Vogue. Elle and  L'Officiel. She has also focused her career on helping charities. Amongst many other contributions and achievements, in 2010 Sarah Brown presented her with an "Outstanding Contribution" award from British Elle for her work as an ambassador for the White Ribbon Alliance (link), as well as her work in the fashion industry.

"I have no regrets. I’ve got my health."

Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford is an American model and actress. She was first ever spotted in 1990 at the Donna Karan SS 1991 show and has since had one of the most successful supermodel careers since. Good looks definitely also run in the family genes as her daughter Kaia Gerber has debuted her first catwalk season this year for #NYFW. Check her out here opening the Alexander Wang show.

"Even I don’t wake up looking like Cindy Crawford!"

Kate Moss

Kate Moss is an English Supermodel first discovered by Sarah Doukas , the founder of Storm Model Management, at the age of 14. She received an award at the 2013 British Fashion Awards to acknowledge her contribution to fashion over 25 years. Kate is also a contributing fashion editor for British Vogue, with her own clothing range, modelling agency, multiple musical projects and movie appearances. Her obscenely successful career history and golden supermodel status was even highlighted back in 2007, when TIME named her one of the world's 100 most influential people. One of her most iconic early shows was with John Galliano in 1990. Check out bellow to see the backstage video of Galliano advising Kate on some catwalk tips just before the show.

"What people say isn’t going to stop me. I have to do things for myself."

-Kate Moss

Karlie Kloss.

Walking first at the 3.1 Phillip lim Fall/Winter 2008 show - it’s hard not to be completely in love with Karlie as she illustrates her career from catwalks to covers to campaigns and charity work. When she was just 15 she walked 31 shows during the Fall/Winter 2008 season, an incredible debut that in retrospect depicted her inevitable fame and current supermodel status. She has even set up her own camp to encourage young girls to learn how to code. KodewithKlossy is just one reflection of her highly commendable acts off the runway, whilst we are constantly intrigued to keep updated with this 21st century supermodel.

"If you believe in yourself and feel confident in yourself, you can do anything. I really believe that."
-Karlie Kloss

Kendall Jenner

Only this year Kendall Jenner was announced as The Fashion Icon of the Decade at the 2017 Fashion Media Awards at New York Fashion Week. With over 83.2M followers on her Instagram Kendall is 100% a modern day social media supermodel when she’s not appearing on the E! reality television show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Her first ever catwalk was only back in 2011 at the Sherri Hill SS 2012 (link) presentation. She has major label campaign contracts including with Estee Lauder and Calvin Klein (link).

Modelling isn’t something I’m doing to prove people wrong, It’s something I’m doing because it’s what I want to do.
