Today's Village Diaries post is all about bringing you the best #MVTopTips on skincare and reveal our #MVBabes' secrets on their favourite products, as well as supermodels' skin tips to help you get booked for that job!
LOVE YOUR SKIN, IT NEEDS IT!
Why should taking care of your skin be your no.1 daily routine as a model?
During castings you want to have a natural look, make-up free ideally. This is to help the client understand your profile, see what they can work with and how your face can help represent their brand. So making sure your skin looks effortlessly glowing is the perfect way to help you nail those polaroids to get booked for the job.
During the shows any model's skin experiences a trek of products, lined one after another, from show to show. Even though most makeup artists will prep your skin before, having clear skin prior to the shows really will help your face survive the season. You don't want to finish Fashion Week with a million spots that may prevent you from working on that next major hit beauty campaign afterwards! 😜
IMPROVE YOUR SKINCARE NATURALLY
1. DRINK LOTS OF WATER
Drinking at least 8 glasses a day will help rid the body and skin of toxins. It also helps increase energy and relieves fatigue, boosts your immune system and lots more...
2. USE COCONUT OIL
Coconut oil is high in natural saturated fats. Saturated fats not only increase the healthy cholesterol (known as HDL cholesterol) in your body, but also help convert the LDL “bad” cholesterol into good cholesterols. By Increasing the HDL in the body, it helps promote heart-health and lower the risk of heart disease.
3. MOISTURISE EVERY 24 HOURS
Using the right kind of moisturizer for your skin can help maintain its balance. When skin is too dry or too oily, many common skin problems like acne or blemishes start to pop up. If your skin tends to be dry, look for a cream – they tend to have a higher oil content.
4. GET ENOUGH VITAMIN D
Vitamin D contributes to skin cell growth, repair, and metabolism. It optimises the skin's immune system and helps destroy free radicals that can cause premature ageing. Remember there's nothing bad with a NATURAL glowing sun kissed look ☀️
SKINCARE SECRETS FROM our #MVBABES
MV Babe Zsanett’s favourite beauty product to help her skin is a beauty staple in most make up artist’s kit, Lait Creme Concentrate from Embryolisse. It’s really gentle on the skin and it’s got a lovely richness to it that really helps her dry areas.
MV Babe Sara's top product is the Bioderma cleanser for sensitive skin. It easily removes all sorts of makeup with and is very gentle on the skin at the same time. It is actually the only cleanser that doesn't irritate her skin at all. The cleanser does not cost much either, and is truly a 'must have' for her daily skin routine :)
SKINCARE SECRETS FROM SUPERMODELS
JOURDAN DUNN SUGGESTS: "Stick to a consistent regimen." This advice is relevant for any models constantly working and even off-duty. No matter when, skincare is a No.1 routine and should be something you focus on even when you are off the clock! ⏰
ERIN HEATHERTON SUGGESTS: "Don't OD on products." This is definitely true for models especially during Fashion Week. If you are doing the whole Fashion Month, your skin goes through a lot backstage. So follow Erin's advice and don't go overboard, your skin is already going through a lot, so remember, simple is best.
CINDY CRAWFORD SUGGESTS: "Getting enough sleep" With her model offspring storming the catwalk you can bet that this supermodel mum knows what she's on about! Sleep is vital to help revive your skin and help naturally nourish its nutrients to give you that fresh-faced look models are famously known for!
CLAUDIA SCHIFFER SUGGESTS: "It's all about exfoliation." Exfoliating involves helping your skin remove the oldest dead skin cells so you can look fresh, pore clear and clean!
