Last week was a lunch recipe so this week I've got your perfect on-the-go healthy snack sorted!
When you get that afternoon energy dip these great bars will give you the energy boost you need.
Adding nuts gives you healthy protein to keep you full and the oats are low GI (slow releasing energy) and the chocolate will give you the sugar you need and stop cravings. Dark chocolate is better for you so try and use one with a high % of cocoa.
(Makes 8 bars)
2 Cups rolled oats
½ Cups flour
¼ Cups chopped walnuts (optional)
¼ Cups dark chocolate chips (or dried fruit)
¼ Cup sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
½ tsp. salt
1.5 cup skimmed milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Mix dry ingredients in one bowls, then wet ingredients in another bowl.
3.Pour wet into dry, mixing until combined.
4.Pour the mix into a cooking-sprayed baking dish.
(Sprinkle raw oats on top if you like)
5.Bake for 30 minutes.
6.Cut into 8 bars and then let them cool on a cooling rack.
