CONSIDERING the popularity of BB creams when they arrived in 2011, it was only natural - alphabetically, at least - that CC creams should follow. And follow they did, launching here in 2013 after debuting in the always-ahead-of-the-pack Asian market and spawning new launches mont after month ever since.
Whereas BB stood for Blemish Balm or Beauty Balm, CC represents Colour Control, Complexion Corrector or Colour Correction. Like BB creams they boast hydrating properties, SPF protection and semi-sheer coverage, but with the added benefit of colour-correcting technology to improve uneven skin tones.
Yes, some CC creams seem to be little more than tinted moisturisers, but there's no doubt that some of the formulas on the market stand out for their ability to even skin tone and conceal imperfections without a heavy finish or oily texture - those are the ones filling the gap in our make-up bags.
